The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh expects each parish to have a Pastoral Council and a Finance Council. Archangel Gabriel Parish is led by Pastor Fr. Ken Marlovits, with guidance from the Parish Finance and Pastoral Councils.

The Parish Pastoral Council assists in parish leadership by helping to create, manage, and evaluate a “pastoral plan”—something like a secular institution’s “strategic plan.”  Pastoral councilors help by listening to the parish and pastor, praying and studying, and sustaining an extended dialogue with the pastor concerning the needs of the parish and the direction provided by him, the Bishop, and the Holy Spirit.  For this special implementation phase of the Bishop’s initiative, On Mission for The Church Alive!, the pastoral council focuses also on immediate tasks related to the parish vision.

The Finance Council helps the pastor provide for the temporal welfare of the parish by advising him in matters of revenue and expense, security and loss control, maintenance and management.  They ensure compliance with a thorough set of loss-control and good-governance policies.
