Vision Statement 
 Empowering parents as the primary catechists of their children to lead the family into missionary discipleship.

• What is a catechist?  A catechist is someone who passes on the Faith.
• What is a disciple?  A disciple is follower and a learner. "To be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to be engaged in a lifelong process of learning from and about Jesus the master, Jesus the teacher" (Fr. James Mallon, Divine Renovation, page 20).
• What is a missionary disciple?  A missionary disciple is a disciple who makes other disciples.

 

PRIEST: “You have asked to have your child baptized. In doing so you are accepting the responsibility of training him/her in the practice of the faith. It will be your duty to bring him/her up to keep God’s commandments as Christ taught us, by loving God and our neighbor. Do you clearly understand what you are undertaking?

Family Catechesis, or "Fam Cat," is designed to to equip, assist, and support parents to fulfill their role as primary catechist of their children in the Faith.  Children who attend public school receive their Faith Formation with their parents through our ministry of Family Catechesis.  Parents are assisted by parish catechists, who act as a teacher, guide, and witness to the Faith.
